For many of us, the exotic images of Ethiopia were etched into our minds many years ago within the iconic pages of National Geographic magazine. Continuing our rich tradition of offering distant and exotic eclipse destinations to travelers around the world, we at TravelQuest invite you to join us, on an extraordinary lifetime journey to the amazing land that is Ethiopia. To travel to the very places Geographic writers and photographers did so many years ago; to see and photograph ourselves, these same amazing images, to witness the November 3, 2013, 11-second sunset total solar eclipse, from our viewing site in southern Ethiopia, just kilometers from the Kenyan border.

The only African country never to have been colonized, Ethiopia maintains a culture and history totally it's own. On this journey we will visit ancient churches and monasteries that are still used by the local people to this day. We will journey into some of the most remote corners of Africa to engage with the local communities of Hamer, Konso and other tribes.

In today's world it is seldom one finds a destination like Ethiopia, which offers so much historically and culturally, and yet is so relatively unvisited by outsiders. In spring 2011, TQ�s 2013 Ethiopia Trip Logistic Leader, Michel Girardin, and renowned eclipse meteorologist, Jay Anderson, joined me as we explored the wonders of Ethiopia, and

identified our prime view spot for the 11-second November 3, 2013 eclipse.
